Ultimate Rugby is a E-Mail game that simulates the Game of Rugby Union. Each player (Manager) has complete control over a team consisting of 25 to 35 players. For each game (usually 1/week) each manager mails a set of orders to the game moderator who the uses the order files to generate result files that are returned to the manager. Each manager tries to win the League competition. Each team is managed by one owner (refered to as Manager). Each manager has an E-Mail address. Each team has a Unique Name and Abbreviation. The Team abbreviation is used when communicating with the Game Moderator (William Cairns). Teams are going to be devided into a number of Leagues. Each league will consist of 10 teams. Teams will play one another twice per season (18 games) and a Cup competition. The season will last 25 weeks. At the end of the normal 25 week season there will be a number of additional games being played, these wil be the Cup finals using the top 16 teams that qualified for each of the Cup, Plate and Bowl, as well as any other playoff games deemed neccessary. Each team must have a home ground, this ground is where all home games will be played. Grounds also have different conditions that make them unique from each other. Conditions are Temperature, Humidity, Hardness, Wind and Variation. These conditions along with the Players Field Preferences allow each team a Home team advantage. LeaguesUR has a structure of multiple leagues each having a number of divisions within it. No single division is considered to be the top division instead the First division in each League are all equal. Each division will normally have 10 teams, if a division is short of teams it may have either 8, 6 or 4 teams in it. Currently we have a pyrimidal structure : The Ultimate League is at the top, feeding the UL are 2 1st divisions, each in turn being fed by 2 2nd Divisions, the 2nd divisions only have a single 3rd Division below them but this will expand as neccessary. The top 2 teams in each Division will be promoted to the higher division while the bottom 4 teams will be relegated to the lower division. If teams drop out at the end of the season the 3rd and or 4th placed teams may find themselves being promoted. New managers teams fall into a seperate league called the Newbie League. The newbie league has a number of divisions but they are all at the same level. After a teams Newbie season they move into the competitive leagues. |
